4G Dash Cam for Delivery Fleet Monitoring

A location point can show where a delivery vehicle was reported. Video can add context about what was happening around the vehicle at the relevant time.

Jinshengchang’s connected dash camera solution brings these records into a coordinated fleet-monitoring workflow. It can be configured for delivery vans, distribution vehicles and service fleets that need both journey visibility and access to recorded footage.

The final functions depend on the selected camera hardware, firmware, cellular connection and management platform.

Review Delivery Incidents with Video and Location

Delivery operations involve frequent stops, changing routes and repeated visits to customer sites.

When an incident occurs, fleet teams need a practical way to find the relevant vehicle, time and available recording.

Combining route records with video access can reduce the amount of footage staff need to search manually. Accurate timestamp handling helps align a reported location with its corresponding recording.

The system should also identify whether a record reflects the original event time or a later upload.

Choose Camera Coverage for the Vehicle

A road-facing camera supports review of the scene ahead. Other applications may require a cabin-facing camera, rear view or cargo-area coverage.

Camera quantity should follow the operational requirement and the device’s supported inputs.

Each additional channel affects storage demand, data use and installation complexity. Confirm resolution, frame rate and low-light performance for every required view.

Cabin recording and audio should have defined access controls and configurable operation suited to the deployment.

Use Remote Video Selectively

Remote live view and historical clip retrieval serve different purposes.

Live viewing provides access to the current camera feed where supported. Clip retrieval requests a recording from an earlier time, provided that the footage remains available.

A historical request may fail if the storage has been overwritten, the device is offline or the selected time was not recorded.

The platform should make these outcomes clear rather than presenting every request as successful.

For many fleets, location reporting and selected event clips provide a practical starting point. Continuous video upload requires a separate assessment of network coverage, data costs and server capacity.

Configure Event Recording Around Actual Needs

Supported event triggers can help locate relevant footage without reviewing an entire working day.

The selected device may offer sensor-based triggers, a manual event input or other configured recording events. Confirm the available trigger types before advertising them.

Where pre-event recording is required, verify the device’s buffering capability and retained duration.

An event marker helps identify footage for review. It does not independently establish the cause of an incident.

Plan Storage and Retention

Recording duration depends on usable storage, combined video bitrate, camera channels and operating hours.

Loop recording usually replaces older unprotected footage when storage fills. Important clips therefore need a defined preservation process.

Confirm how event protection works, how much storage it can occupy and what happens when the protected area becomes full.

For exported recordings, retain the vehicle identity, camera channel, timestamps and relevant event information.

Match Power Behavior to Fleet Operation

Vehicle-powered recording requires correct electrical installation.

Specify whether the device starts with ignition, continues for a defined period after ignition-off or supports a separate parking mode.

Extended parked operation requires appropriate low-voltage protection and a power budget suitable for the vehicle.

A backup battery or other shutdown reserve should not be advertised as extended parking power unless that use has been verified.

Optional ADAS and Driver Monitoring

ADAS and driver-monitoring functions require specific cameras, processing capability and software.

Their availability cannot be inferred from 4G connectivity or the presence of a cabin camera.

If required, define the supported event classes, installation calibration, operating conditions and acceptance tests before the pilot.

Market these functions according to validated performance and the selected configuration.

Integrate with Fleet Software

A project may require vehicle locations, video sessions, historical retrieval, event notifications and account permissions within one interface.

Location-protocol compatibility alone does not establish video compatibility. Confirm media transport, authentication, codec support and playback behavior separately.

Storage location, retention periods and export permissions should also form part of the integration specification.

Overview

Jinshengchang’s 4G fleet dash camera solution combines vehicle video recording with GPS location data to support delivery operations and incident review. Depending on the selected configuration, fleet teams can access remote video, retrieve recorded clips and review journeys through a compatible management platform. The solution can be specified for delivery vans, service vehicles and commercial fleets, with hardware, firmware and platform integration tailored to project requirements.

During an assigned journey, the dash camera records video according to its configured operating mode. The positioning module collects location information, and supported records are sent through the cellular connection. When an incident is reported, an authorized manager selects the vehicle and relevant time period. The platform can display available route records and supported video-retrieval options. If remote retrieval is enabled and the footage remains on accessible storage, the manager requests the relevant clip. The system should distinguish a pending request from a completed upload. Where live viewing is supported, authorized staff can open a temporary video session when required. Routine monitoring can prioritize location and event data to control mobile-data use. At the end of the journey, the camera follows its configured ignition-off and power-management rules.

GPS positioning does not transmit a location by itself. Cellular, LoRaWAN or satellite connectivity must be selected for the operating environment.

What to evaluate

  • Check local coverage, supported bands and reporting frequency before choosing a device.
  • Confirm battery life under real conditions. Signal strength, reporting interval and temperature affect performance.
  • Confirm mounting, fit, enclosure protection and maintenance with the final hardware specification.
  • Confirm platform access, data ownership, integration protocol and recurring costs.
